Huikean suosittu, Grammy-palkittu meksikolaisartisti Lila Downs kasvoi kahden kulttuurin vaikutuspiirissä, Yhdysvaltain Minnesotassa ja Meksikon Oaxacassa. Monikulttuurinen tausta kuuluu hänen musiikissaan, joka sisältää kaikuja meksikolaisista rancheroista, boleroista, jazz-standardeista, hip-hopista ja pohjoisamerikkalaisesta folkista. Yhtyeen sointimaailma koostuu sekä elektronisista että live-perkussioista, voimakkaasta vaskipuhallinsektiosta, kahdesta laulusolistista ja runsaasta vaihtuvasta instrumentaatiosta.

Mostar Sevdah Reunion (Bosnia ja Hertsegovina) to 9.11. klo 19.00

Bosnialaisyhtye Mostar Sevdah Reunionista on muodostunut Balkanilla suoranainen instituutio. Yhtyeen tulkinnat perinteisestä sevdah-musiikista yhdistävät kokonaisen musiikillisen maailman: kuultavissa on vaikutteita niin flamencosta, fadosta ja rebetikasta kuin salsasta, bluesista ja funkistakin.
Mostar Sevdah Reunionin peruskivi on sevdah. Melankolinen, tuskallinen ja voimakas sevdah-laulu tarjoaa kokemuksen joka saa rinnan läikkymään ja sydämen sykkimään. Musiikki on suurimmilta osin ikivanhaa, usein epätoivoisen surullista, mutta lempeällä myötätunnolla tulkittua.

Bosniska Mostar Sevdah Reunion har blivit en regelrätt institution i Balkan. Bandets tolkningar av den traditionella sevdahmusiken för samman en hel värld av musik: i musiken hörs influenser från såväl flamenco, fado och rebetika som från salsa, blues och funk.
Mostar Sevdah Reunions grundsten är sevdah. Den melankoliska, lidelsefulla och kraftfulla sevdahsången är en upplevelse som känns i bröstet och får hjärtat att slå. Till största delen är musiken uråldrig, ofta förtvivlat sorglig, men tolkad med vänlig medkänsla.

The wildly popular, Grammy award-winning Mexican artist Lila Downs grew up influenced by two cultures in the U.S. state of Minnesota and in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. The multicultural background is clearly present in her music, which features echoes of Mexican rancheras, boleros, jazz standards, hip hop and North American folk. Downs sings her songs in Spanish and English, but also uses a variety of Native American languages, such as Zapotec, Mixtec and Tarascan. The incomparable star who has performed at the White House and the Oscar Gala can now be heard in Finland for the first time.

Sevdah, however, forms the foundation of Mostar Sevdah Reunion’s music. The painfully melancholy and powerful Sevdah singing provides an experience that is sure to make your heart swell. The music is mostly ancient and often despairingly sad but interpreted through gentle compassion.

A site-specific audiopiece that begins in Oodi central library, and takes the listener on a narrated, comical, musical wander around the railway station and surroundings, and finishes back in Oodi.

The listener first collects a map entitled \"Adventures in White Privilege\" from the brochure stand next to the info desk on the first floor of Oodi Central Library. The map includes a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone, which will open a link where the audiopiece can be either streamed or downloaded. The listener can then hear the track through headphones and follow the directions of the audio and the map.

For potential listeners who require the loan of headphones and/or mp3 player to access the piece, there will be a small number available on request at the info desk.

The piece is free of charge and will be launched at 15.00 on 24.09.23 and will be available at any time during Oodi's opening hours until 24.10.23.

The piece is in English, though transcripts in Finnish will be available soon.

Jokaisella täysi-ikäisellä henkilöllä tulisi olla laadittuna edunvalvontavaltuutus, sillä sairastuminen tai onnettomuus ei katso ikää. Edunvalvontavaltuutuksessa voidaan määritellä mm. kuka ja miten omaisuutta hoidetaan, kuka saa irtisanoa turhiksi käyneet sopimukset ja kenellä on oikeus päättää hoidosta ja hoivasta, kun ei enää itse kykene kyseisistä asioista päättämään.

OmaStadi on Helsingin kaupungin osallistavaa budjetointia. Se tarkoittaa, että kaupunkilaiset voivat ehdottaa, mihin Helsingin kaupungin rahoja käytetään. Sen jälkeen kaupunkilaiset äänestävät, mitkä ehdotukset ovat parhaita. Kaupunki käyttää ehdotuksiin yhteensä 8,8 miljoonaa euroa.

Työpaja on tarkoitettu kaikille kaupunkilaisille.
