Labs for sense-making in the Autumn 2023 at Itäkeskus Library, Kanerva-hall.
Once a month on Thursdays, on August 31th, September 28th, October 26th and November 30th, at 17.30-19.30.
We have several life-threatening crises at hand and an epidemic of disconnection. At the same time, we are divided into our own tribes, and listening to people we disagree with is getting challenging.
In order to create a less broken tomorrow, we need better inner resources to navigate the complexity and the courage to find our shared humanity beyond divisions, so that we can work together.
We explore how to be in harmony with others, what constitutes a meaningful life, and how to develop thinking and creativity to become agents of change.

The event is organised by Ekata Theatre, in collaboration with Itäkeskus Library. Ekata Theatre is an independent cultural influencer that aims to contribute to future resilience through physical theatre and thinking development labs.

Tölö bibliotek
Drawing Time is about having fun while drawing. Together we will learn some drawing tricks and magic. The drawing sessions are hosted by Vaidas, a long time illustrator and concept artist for film and games. He comes with lived experience and some fun stories from inside the industry. With strong passion for teaching and sharing his knowledge Vaidas wishes to get you interested in expressing yourself with the simple tools like pens and paper. Everything needed for the classes will be provided by the library. Let’s draw together!

You can contact us in questions of the different states of migration and about the process of your documents and statues for example residence permits, family reunite-process, passports and nationality applications. You can also ask help from us for a friend or a relative.

The most important thing is the interaction between the adult and the child. Participants are free to take part in any way that is most comfortable to them, even if it means just watching and listening.
The group is open to everybody regardless of their musical background or language skills. The length of the session is approximately 30 minutes. The recommended age of the children is from 3 to 18 months.
Please note that Music for babies will not be organized on 5th of October and on 26th of October.

The Wednesday Club, Keskiviikkokerho, is open to all children aged 7-12 who wish to participate in joint activities in the library after school. The club’s program varies weekly from arts and crafts to playing card or board games. The club gathers around the large table in the children's area of Vuosaari library every Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. The table seats about 12 children at a time. No enrolment in advance is needed.
The club instructors speak mainly Finnish, but children with little or no skills in Finnish language are welcome to join the club nonetheless. See you at the library!

It's not necessary to register in advance, you can just show up. The meetings are held on Wednesdays 6.9. - 13.12. in Blue Room. On 18.10. and 6.12. we are on holidays.
