Tommi E. Virtanen on populaarimusiikkiin erikoistunut journalisti, jonka töihin lukeutuvat muun muassa Jope Ruonansuun Aatteleppa ite! -elämäkerta (2006), Jimi Seron Mun tie -elämäkerta (2012), tietokirja Vapaa valitsemaan – Tositarinoita raitistumisesta (2015), Tuure Kilpeläinen & Kaihon Karavaani: Karavaanin matkassa (2018) sekä yhdessä Pekka Laineen kanssa syntynyt Suomalaiset sähkökitaristit (2022).
Kirjoittamisen ohella Virtanen on ansioitunut musiikkiaiheisten dokumenttielokuvien ohjaajana.

Kanneltalon galleriassa on esillä edesmenneiden Soledad Chuaqui Lahiattin (1937–2018), Héctor Wistuba Lorcan (1932–2018) ja Luis Baudrandin (1951–2021) teoksia. Kaikki kolme asuivat Suomessa vuosikymmeniä poliittisina pakolaisina, koska olivat joutuneet lähtemään kotimaastaan vuoden 1973 vallankaappauksen seurauksena.
Soledad Chuaqui tuli tunnetuksi omintakeisen paperinleikkaustekniikkansa sekä rautalangasta tehtyjen reliefien vuoksi. Hän myös opetti monia tulevia taiteilijoita Taideteollisessa korkeakoulussa.
Héctor Wistuba puolestaan yhdisti chileläisen ja suomalaisen kulttuurin taidokkailla vesiväri- ja öljymaalauksillaan, joiden aiheen hän usein löysi suomalaisesta luonnosta.
Luis Baudrand oli dokumenttivalokuvaaja, jonka tuotanto keskittyy ihmisoikeuksiin; hän pyrki antamaan äänen niille, joilla sitä ei muutoin ollut. Näyttelyn kuvat kertovat Guatemalan alkuperäiskansojen kulttuurin voimasta pitkän sisällissodan jälkeen.

I Gamlasgårdens galleria finns en utställning med verk av framlidna Soledad Chuaqui Lahiatt (1937–2018), Héctor Wistuba Lorca (1932–2018) och Luis Baudrand (1951–2021). Alla tre bodde i årtionden i Finland som politiska flyktingar, eftersom de hade tvingats lämna sitt hemland till följd av statskuppen 1973.

Andreas Gefe on kansainvälisesti tunnettu sveitsiläinen kuvittaja ja sarjakuvataiteilija. Hän on julkaissut viisi sarjakuvanovellia saksaksi, ja kolme niistä on käännetty myös ranskaksi.
Vuonna 2019 Gefe vietti neljä kuukautta New Yorkissa, missä hän tapasi Julian Volojin sattumalta. Teokselle (Not) a New York Love Story myönnettiin sveitsiläis–saksalaisten kaupunkien sarjakuvapalkinto. Myös maalaaminen on Gefen intohimo. Gefe luo kuvituksensa akryylillä pahville, ja hän työstää usein henkilökohtaisia projektejaan. Uusin on Carnets de Voyage -sarja, joka on originaalien ohella esillä Sarjakuvafestivaaleilla.
Helsingin sarjakuvafestivaalien tämän vuodet teemat ovat saksankielinen sarjakuva sekä matkustus ja liikenne.
Helsingin sarjakuvafestivaalit ovat pohjoismaiden suurin sarjakuvatapahtuma, jotka järjestetään vuonna 2023 jo 38. kerran. Suomen sarjakuvaseura ry on järjestänyt tapahtumaa vuodesta 1979 lähtien. Tänä vuonna Helsingin sarjakuvafestivaalit järjestetään Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamolla Helsingissä 16.–17.9.2023.

Andreas Gefe är en internationellt känd schweizisk illustratör och serietecknare. Han har publicerat fem komiska noveller på tyska, och tre av dem har även översatts till franska. 2019 tillbringade Gefe fyra månader i New York, där han träffade Julian Voloj av en slump. (Inte) en New York Love Story belönades med Swiss-German Cities Comics Award. Att måla är också Gefes passion. Gefe skapar sina illustrationer med akryl på kartong, och han arbetar ofta med sina personliga projekt. Den nyaste är Carnets de Voyage-serien, som visas på Seriefestivalen tillsammans med originalen.
Årets teman för Helsingfors seriefestival är tyska serier samt resande och trafik. Helsingfors seriefestival är Nordens största serieevenemang och 2023 ordnas den redan för 38:e gången.

Andreas Gefe is a Swiss Illustrator and Comic Artist with international reputation. He has published five graphic novels in German. The themes of this year’s Helsinki Comics Festival are German-language comics and travel and transport. Helsinki Comics Festival is the largest comics event in the Nordic countries, and it is being held for the 38th time in 2023.

A site-specific audiopiece that begins in Oodi central library, and takes the listener on a narrated, comical, musical wander around the railway station and surroundings, and finishes back in Oodi.
The listener first collects a map entitled \"Adventures in White Privilege\" from the brochure stand next to the info desk on the first floor of Oodi Central Library. The map includes a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone, which will open a link where the audiopiece can be either streamed or downloaded. The listener can then hear the track through headphones and follow the directions of the audio and the map.
For potential listeners who require the loan of headphones and/or mp3 player to access the piece, there will be a small number available on request at the info desk.
The piece is free of charge and will be launched at 15.00 on 24.09.23 and will be available at any time during Oodi's opening hours until 24.10.23.
The piece is in English, though transcripts in Finnish will be available soon.

Lasten kirjojen osastolla kirjaston aukioloaikana lapset saavat ottaa itselleen heijastimen seinältä. He voivat myös vaihtaa omat heijastimet parempaan – tai erilaiseen. Tärkeintä on, että lapset näkyvät ulkona vuoden pimeiden kuukausien aikana.
