Sateenkaarihistoriakuukauden satuhetki

Kirjasto jakaa tarinoita historiasta ja jaetusta kulttuuriperinnöstä. Kirjastossa juhlitaan sateenkaarihistorian kuukautta, joka juhlistaa seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöjen omaa historiaa. Satuhetkelle luetaan Milla Teräksen kirjoittama ja Hannamari Ruohosen kuvittama teos Ensi-lumi. Kirja kertoo matkasta itseksi ja ylpeäksi omasta identiteetistään.

Satuhetken aikana luvassa on musiikkia ja tanssia.

Syksyisessä kirjaillassa pääsemme kuulemaan ja keskustelemaan Meri ja Tove – elämää saaristossa -kirjasta (John Nurmisen Säätiö, 2022)!

Syksyllä 2022 ilmestynyt kirja Meri ja Tove – elämää saaristossa kertoo Toven rakkaudesta mereen ja saaristoon aina lapsuudesta vanhuuteen saakka. Kirjaa esittelevät sen kirjoittajat, historian dosentti ja tietokirjailija Otto Latva ja kulttuurihistorian dosentti Maarit Leskelä-Kärki.

Kirjailijoista:
Otto Latva on monilajisen historian dosentti, historioitsija ja tietokirjailija, jolla on erityinen kiinnostus meri- ja ympäristöhistorian tutkimukseen.
Maarit Leskelä-Kärki on kulttuurihistorian dosentti, joka on tutkinut naisten kirjoittamisen kulttuurihistoriaa ja erikoistunut elämäkerrallisen aineiston tutkimiseen.

”Nainen, joka teki ensimmäisen rock-levyn Suomessa”

Muska aloitti edelleen jatkuvan laulajauransa vuonna 1969, jolloin hän oli ainoa suomalainen naispuolinen rocklaulaja. Ohjelmistossa hänellä oli mm. Janis Joplinia ja Tina Turneria. Heidän biisejään löytyy Muskan keikkaohjelmistosta edelleen.

Syksyllä 1971 Muskaa alkoi säestää \"Kala-Hande\" Salakan luotsaama legendaarinen Orpheus-yhtye, joka sittemmin aloitti yhteistyön Dave \"Isokynä\" Lindholmin kanssa.

Kala-Hande ja Muska perustivat uuden yhtyeen Muska & Hot Dogs, joka keikkaili paljon 70-luvun alussa tehden mm. yhteiskiertueita Hurriganesin ja Rauli \"Badding\" Somerjoen kanssa.

Muska juhlisti 50 keikkavuottaan konserttikiertueella syksyllä 2019 säestäjänään 5-miehinen yhtye, esittäen rock/pop-tuotantoaan eri vuosikymmeniltä.

År 1969, när Muska inledde sin ännu pågående sångarkarriär var hon Finlands enda kvinnliga rocksångare. Hon spelade bland annat musik av Janis Joplin och Tina Turner. Deras låtar står fortfarande på repertoaren på Muskas spelningar.

Muska began her career as a singer in 1969 as the first female rock singer, and she is still going strong. At the time, her repertoire included Janis Joplin and Tina Turner. Their songs are still featured in Muska’s set lists.

West African dance is cheerful, energetic and fast-paced. The classes include a warm-up session and introduction to West African rhythm and movement. You also learn a short choreography. The class ends with relaxing and restorative stretches.

The classes are suitable for everyone: you can come as a beginner to explore a new dance, or with previous experience to get a laid-back early start to the autumn of dance!

Kiilan feministinen arkisto/Kiila Feminist Archive on taiteilija Minna Henrikssonin kokoama arkisto taideteoksena. Teos on pitkäkestoinen ja edelleen jatkuva tutkimusprosessi yli kahdeksankymmentä vuotta toimineen taiteilija- ja kirjailijayhdistys Kiilan alkuvuosiin.

Julkinen interventio toteutetaan Oodi kirjaston ja Rikhardinkadun kirjaston hyllyissä. Kummankin kirjaston kaunokirjallisuuden ja runouden osastoilla on 8.-17. syyskuuta 2023 sarja vihkosia, joissa on suomenkielisiä otteita ja englanninkielisiä käännöksiä neljän kirjailijan valituista novelleista, romaaneista ja runoista: Tyyne Maija Salmisen, Elvi Sinervon, Iris Uurron ja Katri Valan. Nämä teokset ovat jääneet pois kirjastojen kierrosta, mutta ansaitsisivat paikan sekä suomalaisessa että kansainvälisessä kirjallisuuskaanonissa.

Minna Henriksson on tehnyt uusia linoleikkauskuvituksia näihin kirjallisuusotteisiin, joita on vihkosissa ja niitä on myös esillä Rikhardinkadun kirjastossa.

Interventio toteutetaan yhteistyössä lontoolaisen The Showroomin kuraattorin Lily Hallin ja Suomen Britannian- ja Irlannin-instituutin taideohjelman johtajan Karoliina Korpilahden kanssa. Vihkot on suunnitellut Kaisa Lassinaro.

The Kiila Feminist Archive is an archive-as-artwork by artist Minna Henriksson. The work involves a long-term and ongoing process of research into the early years of the Kiila artists’ and writers’ association in Finland, which has been running for over eighty years.

A public intervention is realised into the shelves of two public libraries in Helsinki: Oodi Library and Rikhardinkatu Library. Between 8-17 September 2023, it will be possible to find a series of booklets that will be inserted into the fiction and poetry sections of each library, holding translations in English and the original Finnish texts of excerpts from selected short stories, novels and poems by four authors: Tyyne Maija Salminen, Elvi Sinervo, Iris Uurto and Katri Vala. These are texts that have gone out of public circulation; and have been largely neglected, both in Finnish and international literary history.

These excerpts will be accompanied by new linocut illustrations made by Minna Henriksson, which will also be included in the booklets and displayed at the Rikhardinkatu Library.

The intervention is realised in collaboration with Lily Hall, Curator at The Showroom, London and organised in collaboration with Karoliina Korpilahti, Programme Director, Arts at the Finnish Institute in UK and Ireland. The booklets are designed by Kaisa Lassinaro.

Esitelmällinen konsertti \" János Starkerin jalanjäljillä\"

Pitäjänmäen kirjastossa kuullaan tiistaina 17.10. klo 18.00 mielenkiintoinen esitelmällinen konsertti.

Monet pitävät János Starkeria 1900-luvun merkittävimpänä sellistinä. Hän loi maailmanmaineen konsertoijana ympäri maailmaa, minkä lisäksi hän uhrasi poikkeuksellisen paljon energiaa nuorten sellistien kouluttamiseen. Usein luullaan, että Starker oli amerikkalainen johtuen hänen pitkästä urastaan Indianan yliopistossa. Kuitenkin kyseessä on ehta unkarilainen taiteilija, joka sai musiikillisen koulutukselle pääasiallisesti Budapestin kuuluisassa Liszt-akatemiassa.

Konsertissa kuullaan niitä sooloteoksia, joita Starker esitti mielellään. Useita merkittäviä teoksia suuri yleisö tuntee nimenomaan Starkerin popularisoimana. Ohjelmassa kuullaan J.S Bachin soolosarja C-duuri, Zoltán Kodályn soolosäveliä sekä espanjalaisen Gacpar Cassadon säveliä vuodelta 1926. Lisäksi tarjolla on myös kansanmusiikin ystäville unkarilaisia kansansävelmiä.

Konsertin esittää sellotaiteilija Olli Varonen (1965). Olli opiskeli Budapestissa samassa oppilaitoksessa kuin Starker, jopa samoissa luokkahuoneissa. Ollin opettajana Liszt-akatemiassa toimi prof. Ede Banda, joka oli Starkerin opiskelutoveri ja myöhemmin myös Starkerin sijainen Indiana-yliopistossa. Niinpä Ollin puheenvuoroissa kuullaan elävästi musiikinhistoriaa ihaillun taiteilijan nuoruusvuosista ja Budapestin Liszt-akatemian musiikkielämästä ennen toista maailmansotaa.
