Jori Otsa ja hänen yhtyeensä Mah’ Orkka on vuonna 2018 perustettu akustinen kvartetti, jonka ohjelmisto koostuu kauneimmista ja unohtumat­tomimmista Itämeren ja slaavilaisen alueen kansan­lauluista, laulelmista, romansseista, iskelmistä ja valsseista. Orkesteri on julkaissut kolmen albumin trilogiasarjan, joka perustuu legendaarisen virolaisen laulajan Georg Otsin tunnetuksi tekemiin levylauluihin.

Orkesteri koostuu kahdesta balalaikasta, harmonikasta ja Jori Otsan ainutlaatuisen uskottavasta ja intensiivisestä laulutul­kin­nasta. Tämä uniikki yhtye palauttaa nämä perinteikkäät laulut alkujuurilleen, riisuen kaiken turhan koreuden, teennäisyyden ja tuotannollisen kikkailun, keskittyen vain olennaiseen, eli laulujen sisältöön.

Yhtyeen julkaisemat levyt sekä konsertit ja keikat ovat ihastuttaneet niin kansaa kuin kriitikoitakin yli genrerajojen.

Olen vantaalainen taidemaalari, lastensuojelun ammattilainen ja kahden lapsen äiti. Lapsuuden kodissani on piirretty, maalattu, soitettu, laulettu sekä kerrottu ja kirjoitettu satuja ja tarinoita. Olen saanut elää ja kasvaa ympäristössä, jossa luovuutta on ruokittu ja itseilmaisuun kannustettu.

Maalaan pääsääntöisesti suuria, abstrakteja akryylimaalauksia. Maalauksissani keskeisin elementti on väri ja tunnelma itsessään. Maalaan enimmäkseen sienillä ja leveillä pensseleillä, jotka jättävät tilaa yllätyksille ja sattumille.

Valmis teos on erehdysten ja onnistumisten kyllästämämä, toisaalta raaka ja rosoinenkin mielenmaisema lukuisia pinta- ja värikerrostumia. Pyrkimykseni on jättää katsojalle tila omalle, henkilökohtaiselle tulkinnalle eivätkä teokseni näin ollen ilmennä koskaan olemassa olevaa paikkaa tai aikaa.

This December Itäkeskus library invites you to our stand up open stage club, where comedians speak their minds on all things Finland. How does it feel to live here amongst the awkward silence, the constant coffee breaks and the neighbours that never say hello? What does Finland and 'Finnishness' look like from different perspectives? The night is hosted by the mesmerizing comedian Nitu Kaur!
