Kustantajan kuvaus:

Jäähyväiset aseille on romaani rakkaudesta, mutta myös väkevä vastalause sodan mielettömyydelle. Hemingway kirjoitti romaanin vuonna 1929 ja siinä voi nähdä kaikuja kirjailijan omista kokemuksista ensimmäisessä maailmansodassa.

Luutnantti Frederic Henry ja sairaanhoitaja Catherine kohtaavat kenttäsairaalassa, jossa Fredericiä hoidetaan jalkaan tulleen osuman vuoksi. Lyhyen polttavan rakkaustarinansa ajan he etsivät sekasortoisen maailman keskellä turvaa ja rauhaa toisistaan.

Toivuttuaan Frederic palaa rintamalle. Hemingway kuvaa vaikuttavasti Caporetton taistelua, jossa Frederic joutuu eroon osastostaan ja on vähällä tulla ammutuksi karkurina. Myöhemmin hän etsii käsiinsä Catherinen ja he pakenevat Sveitsiin, mutta heidän tarinalleen ei ole luvassa onnellista loppua.

Myllypuron kirjasto saa syksyn ensimmäiseksi kirjailijavieraakseen tulevaisuusmuotoilija Minna Koskelon.

Koskelon esikoiskirja Tehtävänä tulevaisuus (Alma Talent 2021) on opas tulevaisuusmuotoiluun, jossa yhdistyvät muotoilu, liiketoiminta- ja tulevaisuusajattelu. Teos kuvaa sitä, miten tulevaisuutta voi huomioida ja muovata jo tänään ja miten vaihtoehtoiset tulevaisuudet voidaan tuoda nykyhetken päätöksentekoon. Päätökset tulevaisuudesta tehdään usein eilisen tiedoilla ja ehdoilla.

Minna Koskeloa haastattelee Sinivuokko Koivula Myllypuron kirjastosta. Tilaisuus järjestetään Myllypuron kirjaston pääsalissa ja on kaikille avoin. Tervetuloa!

Tapahtuma on osa Itä-Helsingin kirjastojen Tulevaisuus tänään -tietokirjailijakiertuetta. Kiertueen tapahtumissa pohdimme tietokirjailijoiden ja asiantuntijoiden kanssa sitä, miltä tulevaisuus näyttää tämän päivän vinkkelistä, ja toisaalta miten tämän päivän toiminta ja ratkaisut muovaavat tulevaisuuden näkymiä.
