BOOKPERFORMANCE is a literary and artistic concept as well as a world-view.

Here are the papers of a book, metaphorically leaves of a tree and individuals of a society. They got collectively painted during the BOOKPERFORMANCE event that took place on the 27th May 2023, at OODI.

Thanks to the energy and the synergy that was created all together within a linguistic and cultural diversity in the happening, a down-to-earth contribution about books and trees thus knowledge and nature was planted into the collective consciousness. The co-created paintings are sold and with the revenue trees are planted for the life on Earth.

You are welcome to see the documentation of this event which is showcased as a digital exhibition at OODI, at any time during 2 weeks, between 21st August and 3rd September.

Добро пожаловать в книжный клуб !

Приглашаем тебя, 10-14 летний подросток, если ты любишь читать и общаться на разные темы. Книжный клуб бесплатный и к нему не нужно готовиться заранее.

На встрече мы все вместе читаем/слушаем короткий текст на русском языке, а потом разговариваем об этом тексте и просто о жизни. Каждый участник имеет право высказать то, что он думает, или просто послушать других, думая о своём.

В осеннем сезоне 2023 встречи книжного клуба проходят три раза в месяц по субботам с 12 до 13:30.

Go Strange. Performance Event

This dance and music performance explores the lived experiences of something that feels familiar and strange at the same time. It uses movement, sound and intention to produce generators that offer gateways into altered states. It meets, familiarises and recycles these states.

Throughout the work there is a play with expanded representations of human identities. The use of bodies, both human and object, attempts to slip between the everyday, the absurd and the otherworldly.

The dancing body becomes a musical instrument? The towels clear the psychokinetic delusional field! I put my head in the water.

Go Strange is imagined, created and performed by Jacqueline Aylward, Maja Kalafatić and Jesse Ojajärvi. These artists, coming from different countries and different cultural environments/landscapes are sharing and rebuilding their relations by making together.

To be performed in Kesälahti, Helsinki, Belgrade and Novi Sad.

This work is supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Čiča Mičino Pozorište Belgrade, Dom kulture Studentski grad Belgrade, Helsinki Central Library Oodi, The Finnish Cultural Foundation’s North Karelia Regional Fund, Kulturanova Novi Sad and Sovintola Kesälahti.

Meillä on ilo paljastaa uusin taidekokoelmamme \"Journey Within and Beyond\" -näyttely. Tämä kokoelma tutkii runouden ja kuvataiteen syvällistä yhteyttä, joka herätetään henkiin Maryam Sabooni Asre Hazerin vision kautta. Tule Myyrmäen kirjastoon juhlimaan Aleksis Kiven elämänmakuista tuotantoa laulun, musiikin, rytmin ja lausunnan keinoin! Tomi Pulkkinen on säveltänyt uusia lauluja Kiven teksteihin, ja esityksessä kuullaan ja lauletaan yhdessä myös traditionaalinen ”Seitsemän veljeksen laulu” mukaansatempaavana sovituksena. Kappaleiden väleihin lomittuu lausuntaa viulusäestyksellä.

”Ikävyydestä” ”Onnellisiin”, Kiven maailmaan mahtuu koko tunteiden kirjo, jota Tomi Pulkkinen Trio välittää omaperäisellä, intensiivisellä tyylillään, huumoriakaan unohtamatta. Trioon kuuluvat pitkän linjan viulutaiteilija Arto Nybom sekä monipuolinen perkussionisti Joel Jaakkola.

Tomi Pulkkinen on esiintyvä taiteilija, lauluntekijä ja kirjailija, joka tunnetaan myös taannoisesta erikoisesta ammatistaan Suomen ensimmäisenä kirjastojen kuukausipalkkaisena trubaduurina.

Lokakuussa 2022 ilmestyi Tomi Pulkkisen uusin teos ”Rakasta epätoivoa - Lordi Byronin päiväkirjat ja autofiktion synty” (Kulttuurivihkot 2022). Koulutukseltaan Tomi Pulkkinen on filosofian maisteri Helsingin yliopistosta pääaineenaan kotimainen kirjallisuus.

Maalauksieni aiheet syntyy luonnossa kulkemisen, sen voiman, kauneuden, kiertokulun ja uudistumisen inspiraatiosta.

Samoillen ja peilaten sitä ihmisenä matkaamisen ihmeeseen. Yhteys itseen ja sisäistä maailmaa tutkien, oppien, havanoiden yhdessä luonnon oman ihmeen kanssa. Vie minut syvän intuition ja vapaan luovuuden tilan äärelle.

Tuosta tilasta käsin syntyy maalauksieni aiheet, värit, tunnelmat sekä tarinat.

Ihmetys on joskus suuri, kun näen valmiin maalauksen ja peilaan sitä omaan matkaani syntyprosessin aikana.

Näyttely koostuu tämän alkuvuoden aikana syntyneistä tauluista. Tammikuussa tein ne, joissa aiheena on nainen. Kukka-aiheiset liittyvät toiseen näyttelyyn, joka on esillä Loviisassa Galleria Theodorissa huhtikuussa vappuun saakka.

Nainen on varsin usein aiheena tai osana kuvan tarinaa tauluissani. Nämä ovat pieniä. Vain 15 cm kanttiinsa. Tein ne samalla , kun aloin työstämään Loviisan näyttelyä. Käytin akryylejä, mutta nopea toteutus ja spontaanius antavat melkein akvarellimaisen vaikutelman.

Kukka-aiheiset tein myöhemmin todettuani että Loviisan näyttely rakentuisi saman teeman ympärille. Ne ovat luonnoksia tai koevedoksia yhteen isompaan tauluun.

Minä ja Rikhardinkadun kirjasto olemme vanhoja tuttuja. Melkein kolmen vuosikymmenen aikana olen saanut pitää lukuisia näyttelyitä Hyllygalleriassa ja muissa tiloissa. En muista mikä oli ensimmäinen kirjasto, mutta lähes kaikissa olen pitänyt useitakin näyttelyjä. Viime vuosi oli ennätys, kun yhteisnäyttelymme “Pieniä puuveistoksia” ystäväni Juha Nuutin kanssa kiersi koko vuoden kirjastosta toiseen.

Tämän näyttelyn yhteydessä haluan kiittää Emmi Martinia, jonka kanssa aloitin yhteistyön Rikussa. Emmin perustama Taiteilijakirjakokoelma muistuttaa minua myös siitä, että ehkä jonakin päivänä teen omat taiteilijakirjani. Se on ollut haaveena opiskeluajoista saakka.

Usein kysyttyä: ovatko nämä myytävänä? Vastaus: useimmiten, se olisi jopa suotavaa. Auttaisi paljon taiteen tekemisessä. Kannattaa ottaa yhteyttä. Nämä hinnaltaan sadan ja kahden euron tuntumassa.

Minä, Juhani Vierimaa olen kuvataitelija. Atskilainen. Kotoisin Lapinlahdelta, Kuopion Yhteiskoulun kasvatti. Helsinkiläinen, joka on saanut työhuoneen ja toisen kodin Savosta. Tarkemmin sanottuna Haukivuorelta, Kyyveden rannalta.

Olen siinä onnellisessa elämän vaiheessa, että voin tehdä vapaana taiteilijana ihan mitä haluan. Maalaamisen jälkeen vuorossa (luultavasti) veistosten tekeminen. Materiaalina puu. Odotan innolla tulevaa, vaikka tiedän sen tuovan tullessaan vaihtelevasti ilon ja epätoivon hetkiä.
