"fi": "<p>Off Places on kaupunkitutkimusta ja valokuvataidetta yhdistävä projekti, jota kuvataiteilijat Henri Airo ja Toivo Heinimäki ovat työstäneet viimeisen reilun viiden vuoden ajan.</p><p>Jatkuvaan prosessiin pohjautuvan projektin lähtöpisteenä toimii taiteilijoiden kotikaupungin Helsingin ja sen kaupunkitilassa alati käynnissä olevien muodonmuutosten, kamppailuiden ja katkosten kartoittaminen.</p><p>Liikkumalla ja valokuvaamalla eri puolilla Helsinkiä Airo ja Heinimäki rakentavat kuva-arkistoa, joka pakenee viranomaisten ja rakennuttajien kartta- ja kaavalähtöistä logiikkaa. Arkiston valokuvat on vedostettu kemiallisesti analogisessa väripimiössä, jossa työparin hyödyntämät, osittain vuosikymmeniä sitten vanhentuneet valokuvapaperit ja muut pimiömateriaalit hämärtävät kuvien näkymiä.</p><p>Arkistoon pohjautuen työpari toteuttaa näyttelyitä ja interventiota, joissa käsin vedostetut valokuvat ja kaupunkitilasta kerätyt kierrätysmateriaalit tuodaan yhteen erilaisten tilojen arkkitehtuurin kanssa. Näyttelytilan seinille asennetut akustiikkalevyt ovat esimerkiksi noudettu vuonna 1990 rakennetun ja 2025 puretun Puistolan peruskoulun purkutyömaalta.</p><p>Rakennettu ympäristö on herkkä muutoksille – rikkaruohon varjo piirtyy vähitellen juna-aseman tuoreeseen betoniseinään, keskeneräiseksi jääneen rakennuksen runko puretaan hiekkakentäksi ja ajan saatossa eri aikakausien arkkitehtuuri herättää ihailua sekä vihaa. Kulttuurikeskus Stoa ja sen ympäristö ovat myös muodonmuutoksen edessä, kun vuonna 2028 kulttuurikeskuksen laajennus ja ympäröivä täydennysrakentaminen katkovat 1960-80 -luvuilla rakennetun kaupunkitilan.</p><p>Tätä näyttelyä varten Airo ja Heinimäki ovat viimeisen vuoden aikana tuottaneet arkistoonsa uutta materiaalia keskittyen Itäkeskuksen alueeseen. Osana näyttelyä järjestetään työpajoja lukioille ja peruskouluille, joissa helsinkiläiset nuoret havainnoivat Stoan alueen arkkitehtuuria. Työpajoissa syntyneitä, värilliselle paperille vedostettuja valokuvia lisätään näyttelyn aikana osaksi installaatiota.</p>",

Utifrån detta arkiv ordnar duon utställningar och interventioner, där analoga fotografier och material från stadsrummet sammanförs med olika utställningslokaler.<br> <br>Henri Airo (s. 1996) och Toivo Heinimäki (s. 1995) är bildkonstnärer som jobbar med fotografering, som delar på ett arbetsrum och ett mörkrum. I sitt kollektiva arbete är de intresserade av den makt som är kopplad till den byggda miljön.</p>",
"en": "<p>Off Places is an ongoing artistic project combining DIY urban research and photography, which visual artists Henri Airo and Toivo Heinimäki have been working on for over five years.</p><p>The project is based around a constant process of mapping the artists’ home city of Helsinki, observing the transformations, struggles, and breaks taking place in urban space.</p><p>By moving around and making photographs in different parts of Helsinki, Airo and Heinimäki are gathering an image archive that breaks away from the logic of maps and zoning employed by city authorities and developers. The photographs in the archive are printed chemically in an analog darkroom, where the photographic paper and other darkroom materials used by the duo, some of which are decades old, obscure the images to give room for an experiential mapping of the city.</p><p>Based on the archive, the artists produce exhibitions and interventions in which hand-printed photographs and recycled materials collected from urban spaces are brought together with the architecture of various exhibition locations. For instance, the acoustic panels installed on the walls of this exhibition space have been collected from the demolition site of the Puistola elementary school, built in 1990 and demolished in 2025.</p><p>The built environment is sensitive to change – the shadow of a weed grows onto the fresh concrete wall of the train station, the frame of an unfinished building is demolished to make way for an empty lot, and over time, the architecture of different eras inspires both praise and hatred. The Stoa Cultural Center and its surroundings are set to undergo a transformation starting in 2028, when the center’s expansion and new housing will reshape the landscape originally developed between the 1960s and 1980s.</p><p>For this exhibition, Airo and Heinimäki have spent the last year producing new material for their archive, focusing on the Itäkeskus area. A series of workshops are organised as part of the exhibition, where youth from schools in Helsinki observe the architecture of the Stoa area. During the exhibition, photographs created in the workshops are gradually added to the installation in the form of small prints on coloured paper.</p>"
