Meille ei ole erikseen kevyttä tai vakavaa musiikkia, ne ovat Total Cello Ensemblessä sisäkkäin, aivan niin kuin elämässäkin.\" –Hannu Kiiski, lehtori emeritus, TCE:n Primus Motor</p><p>Total Cello Ensemblen perusti sellisti-sellonsoiton opettaja, lehtori emeritus Hannu Kiiski vuonna 1994 Sibelius-Akatemian selloluokkansa oppilaista vastapainoksi klassisen musiikin opiskelijan usein sangen yksinäiselle puurtamiselle. TCE-kokoonpanoon on vuosien varrella kuulunut kaikkiaan 36 soittajaa.</p><p>Total Cello Ensemblen sellistit:<br> – Hannu Kiiski, yhtyeen Primus Motor, lehtori emeritus – palkittu Pro Finlandia -mitalilla 2023 uraauurtavasta työstään musiikin hyväksi<br> – Tuomas Ylinen Helsingin kaupunginorkesterin soolosellisti<br> – Tuomas Lehto ja Tomas Nuñez Radion sinfoniaorkesterin soolosellistejä<br> – Samuli Peltonen ja Jussi Vähälä Suomen Kansallisoopperan orkesterin soolosellistejä</p>",

Programmet presenterar också finländska landsvarumärken från Sibelius Jägaremarschen till Lapplands ödemarkssjöars ljudlandskap. Med sex cellon kan man tävla i till exempel Formel 1-tävlingar!</p><p>”På konserterna hörs musik på bred front, vilket enligt vår mening lyfter fram cellons finaste uttrycksskala bäst. I cellon finns ju hela människans tonläge, mannens och kvinnans, och kanske just därför passar cello så bra som tolk för våra gemensamma känslor. For 30 years now, they have been leaping over the borders of different genres of music from classical music to popular – pushing the boundaries of cellos and without compromising quality.</p><p>These top musicians bend both Finnish and Argentinean tangos and even evocative operatic arias into a new, captivating form. Their repertoire also presents Finland’s country brand, featuring elements such as the Jääkärinmarssi military march by Sibelius and soundscapes from lakes in the Lappish wilderness. And six cellos can even mimic a Formula race!</p><p>“The concerts feature a wide range of music that we believe best showcases the most fantastic and expressive scales of the cello. The cello encompasses the whole range of human voice, both male and female, and maybe that is why they are such a perfect way to express our shared feelings. We don’t separate light or serious music, they are intertwined for the Total Cello Ensemble, just like in real life.” – Hannu Kiiski, lecturer emeritus, the Primus Motor of TCE</p><p>The Total Cello Ensemble was founded in 1994 by the cellist and cello teacher, lecturer emeritus Hannu Kiiski. The members were students of his cello class in Sibelius Academy, and the band’s purpose was to provide a respite from the often lonely work of music students.
