Esityksemme Doubt - Holding the Show Together saa alkunsa yksinkertaisesta havainnosta: sama esitys voi onnistua yhtenä iltana täydellisesti ja lässähtää täysin seuraavana. Esiintyjät ja materiaali pysyvät samoina, mutta yleisö on muuttunut. Miten katsojilla voi olla näin syvä vaikutus siihen, mitä näyttämöllä tapahtuu?</p><p>Tätä kysymystä tutkimme pienten esitysten sarjassa eri puolilla Helsinkiä syksyllä 2026. Sukellamme esiintyjien ja yleisön väliseen näkymättömään vuorovaikutukseen kaiken loiston ja teatterisavun alla. Tämän vuorovaikutuksen ytimessä on kieltäytymisen mahdollisuus: yleisö voi millä hetkellä tahansa lakata välittämästä tai jopa lähteä pois. Ja tämä hauraus on osa sitä, mikä tekee koko tilanteesta niin elävän! Yleisö kannattelee esitystä, ja vastavuoroisesti esiintyjät kannattelevat yleisöä. Se on yksinkertainen, hiljainen sopimus, joka syntyy uudelleen joka ilta ja joka saa harvoin ansaitsemaansa huomiota – vaikka kaikki on siitä kiinni.</p><p>Lähdemme leikkisälle tutkimusmatkalle antaaksemme tälle sopimukselle sen ansaitseman arvon asettamalla sen esityssarjamme keskiöön.</p><p>Mitä tapahtuu, jos yleisölle annetaan äänekästä naposteltavaa herkän kohtauksen aikana?<br>Jos katsojat vaihtavat paikkaa jonkun tuntemattoman kanssa?<br>Jos jokainen voi valita eri kappaleen kuunneltavakseen katsoessaan samaa tanssia?<br>Jos kohtaus esitetään kokonaan latinaksi?</p><p>Sen sijaan, että työ pyytäisi katsojia ”osallistumaan” perinteisessä mielessä, se pyytää yleisöä huomaamaan, että he ovat osallistuneet koko ajan. Kuka loppujen lopuksi pitää esitystä kasassa?</p><p>Esityksen on kehittänyt Laserdragons2000-työryhmä osana Koneen Säätiön tukemaa Atten-dances-projektiaan. Our performance Doubt - Holding the Show Together begins from a simple observation: the same performance can succeed one night, and totally fall flat the next. The performers and the material remain the same, but the audience has changed. How can the people watching have such a profound effect on what happens onstage?</p><p>That's the question we explore through a series of small-scale performances across Helsinki in autumn 2026, diving into the invisible exchange between performers and audience beneath all the glamour and theatrical smoke. At the heart of this exchange lies the possibility of refusal: the audience could simply stop caring, or even leave, at any moment. And this fragility is part of what makes the whole thing so alive! The audience holds the performance up, and the performers hold the audience in return. It's a simple, quiet agreement, made new every night, that rarely gets much credit even though everything depends on it.</p><p>We embark on a playful quest of giving this contract the credit it deserves, by placing it in the center of our performance series.</p><p>What happens if the audience is given noisy snacks during a delicate scene? <br>If spectators change seats with someone they don't know? <br>If everyone can choose a different song to listen to while watching the same dance? <br>If a scene takes place entirely in Latin?</p><p>Rather than asking the spectators to “participate” in the conventional sense, the work asks the audience to notice that they were participating all along. Who, in the end, is holding the show together?</p><p>The performance is developed by Laserdragons2000 working group as part of their Atten-dances project supported by the Kone foundation.
