Julkisivun allegoriset kohokuvat laati ruotsalainen taiteilija Carl Magnus Mellgren, joka asui ja työskenteli Suomessa vuodesta 1838 lähtien. Mellgren oli teknisesti erittäin taitava mitalintekijä ja kuvanveistäjä, joka keskittyi erityisesti muistorahojen suunnitteluun. Allegoriset figuurit jakautuvat kahteen ryhmään, joista oikeanpuoleinen kuvaa teologiaa ja juridiikkaa, vasemmanpuoleinen filosofiaa ja lääketiedettä personifioivia naishahmoja. Yliopiston neljää silloista tiedekuntaa edustavat hahmot tunnistaa figuurien kantamista esineistä, joita ovat Filosofian kirja ja sauva, Lääketieteen käärme, Teologian risti ja Juridiikan vaaka. Kohokuvat eivät kuulu HAMin hallinnoimaan Helsingin kaupungin taidekokoelmaan.",

Fasadens relifer utfördes av den svenska konstnären Carl Magnus Mellgren, som bodde och verkade i Finland sedan 1838. Mellgren var en tekniskt mycket skicklig skulptör som främst gjorde medaljer och minnesmynt. De allegoriska kvinnofigurerna personifierar universitetets fyra fakulteter. Man kan urskilja vilka de representerar med hjälp av de föremål de bär. Filosofin har en bok och en stav i handen, Medicinen en orm, Teologin ett kors och Juridiken en våg. Filosofin och Medicinen är gruppen till höger, Teologin och Juridiken till vänster. Relifer ingår inte i Helsingfors stads konstsamling som förvaltas av HAM.",
        "en": "The Helsinki University Main Library was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1840. The allegorical reliefs on the facade were made by the Swedish artist Carl Magnus Mellgren who had lived and worked in Finland since 1838. Mellgren was an extremely skilled sculptor who concentrated on medals and especially commemorative coins. The allegorical figures are divided into two groups with that on the left symbolizing theology and justice, and the other symbolizing philosophy and medicine. The four figures represent the four faculties the University had at the time. They can be identified by the attributes they carry: the book and staff of Philosophy, the adder of Medicine, the cross of Theology and the scales of Justice. The reliefs don't belong to the City of Helsinki's art collection, which is managed by HAM."
