"fi": "Sakari Vapaavuori on abstrakteista veistoksista ja reliefeistä tunnettu keraamikko ja muotoilija, joka loi merkittävän uran taideteollisuudessa ja työskenteli Arabian tehtailla vuosina 1947-1974. Vapaavuori käytti teoksissaan pääasiassa posliinia ja samottia, mutta kehitti ja kokeili myös uusia ulkoilmamateriaaleja ja -tekniikoita. Flooran veistos valmistui 1950-luvun alkupuolella, Arabian vuonna 1948 rakennetun päiväkodin pihalle. Samotista valmistettu teos koostuu useista lähes samanmuotoisista osista ylöskurottavaksi, kierteisen liikkeen konstruktioksi. Nimettömälle teokselle on olemassa useita tulkintoja, joista yleisin lienee äiti ja lapsi -teema. Toisaalta taiteilijan kerrotaan teosta apupoika Jalkasen kanssa kootessaan tokaisseen utelijoille, että veistoksen nimi on Jalkanen käsillään. Luultavimmin teos edustaa kuitenkin nimetöntä ja abstraktia, monille tulkinnoille avointa veistotaidetta. Teos ei kuulu HAMin hallinnoimaan Helsingin kaupungin taidekokoelmaan.",
"sv": "Sakari Vapaavuori, keramiker och formgivare känd för sina abstrakta skulpturer och reliefer, gjorde karriär inom konstindustrin och arbetade på Arabia 1947-1974. Vapaavuori använde huvudsakligen porslin och chamotte i sina arbete, men utvecklade och prövade också nya material och tekniker. Skulpturen är från 1950-talets början och står på gården till det daghem som Arabia byggde 1948. Materialet är chamotte. Skulpturen är utan titel och den spiralformade konstruktionen har getts flera tolkningar av vilka den vanligaste är att motivet är mor och barn. Det berättas att konstnären, när han tillsammans med sin medhjälpare Jalkanen satte ihop skulpturen, avfärdade nyfikna frågor med att påstå att skulpturen hette \"Jalkanen står på händerna\". Verket ingår inte i Helsingfors stads konstsamling som förvaltas av HAM.",
"en": "Sakari Vapaavuori is a designer and ceramist known for his abstract sculptures and reliefs. He made a remarkable career in industrial arts and worked at Arabia in 1947-1974. Porcelain and chamotte were his favourites but he also developed new materials and techniques suitable for outdoor use.. The sculpture at Floora (1948) was completed in the early 1950s and placed in the yard of the day-care centre of the Arabia factories. The piece, made of chamotte comprises several almost identical parts in winding upward movement. Although this untitled piece has been offered several interpretations, the most popular is probably the mother and child theme. On the other hand, it is told that when assembling the piece with his assistant Jalkanen the artist enlightened the prying audience by saying that the piece is titled Jalkanen Standing on His Hands. The most likely interpretation is, however, that the piece is a representative of abstract and untitled sculpture open to a variety of interpretations. The work doesn't belong to the City of Helsinki's art collection, which is managed by HAM."
