"fi": "Yliskylän päiväkodin sisäpihalla seisoo Kalle Mustosen (s. 1979, Lahti) nelimetrinen puurakenteinen hahmo, Jääkarhupoika. Kiipeämällä päiväkodin toiseen kerrokseen hahmoa pääsee tarkastelemaan kasvojen tasalta. Lapset mahtuvat leikkimään sen alla. Teoksen sävy ja mittasuhteet tukevat rakennuksen arkkitehtuurin vähäeleisyyttä. Teos on toteutettu lämpökäsitellystä männystä. Hahmo jättää tilaa lasten tarinoille eikä tarjoile valmista tulkintaa. Taiteilija kertoo: \"Ilmastonmuutoksen symbolina jääkarhu johdattaa ympäristöteemaan. Teoksen elinkaaren aikana voimme vielä nähdä sen hangessa seisomassa tai sitten se jää muistuttamaan valkeista talvista. Jättiläisen pojan ryhdissä ja ilmeessä on kuitenkin uskoa tulevaan.\" Teos on toteutettu prosenttirahaperiaatteella ja se kuuluu Helsingin kaupungin taidekokoelmaan, jota HAM hallinnoi ja kuratoi.",

Då man kliver upp till daghemmets andra våning kan man studera figuren i samma höjd som dess ansikte. Barnen ryms att leka under den. Verkets nyans och storlek stöder byggnadens strama arkitektur. Verket är tillverkat av målad värmebehandlad furu. Figuren ger plats för barnens berättelser och bjuder inte på färdiga tolkningar. Konstnären berättar: \"Som symbol leder isbjörnen tankarna in på för klimatförändringstemat. Under verkets livstid kan vi se den stå i snödrivan eller senare få oss att minnas vita vintrar. I jättepojkens hållning och ansiktsuttryck anar man ändå en tro på framtiden.\" Verket har producerats enligt enprocentsprincipen och hör till Helsingfors stads konstsamling som förvaltas och kurateras av HAM.",
"en": "Polar Bear Boy is a four-metre-tall wooden figure by Kalle Mustonen (b. 1979, Lahti) that stands in the yard of Yliskylä Daycare Centre. From the second floor of the building, you can observe the boy at eye level. Children can play at the foot of the figure. The mood and the proportions of the work complement the understated architecture of the daycare centre. The work is made of heat-treated pinewood. Because the figure of the boy does not offer a readymade interpretation, it leaves room for children to create their own stories. The artist says: \"The polar bear boy is a symbol of climate change and makes you think of the environment. Over the course of its life, we may see it stand in the snow, or it may become a reminder of white winters past. The posture and expression of the giant boy contain a hint of trust in the future.\" The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the City of Helsinki's art collection, which is managed and curated by HAM."
