The lecture discusses how the illicit trade in antiquities works, the actors involved, and what its devastating outcomes are to people and objects. The lecture goes through a variety of cases involving manuscript collections from the Middle East, including some that today are in Finland.\"</p><p>Rick Bonnie is a University Lecturer in Museology in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Helsinki, where he teaches on museum history, collection work, and community engagement, among other things. His research interests include museum and heritage ethics, object biographies, decolonisation and provenance issues, museum collection histories, and sensory archaeology.
